Information Sharing Panel Discussion

Ensuring Effective Information Sharing in the International Maritime Sector

Effective information sharing is not only about sharing information in case of an incident. It is necessary to build a trusted community and to make arrangements to share such information safely and effectively. Effective information sharing is also about knowing and learning from one another. Building a trusted community takes time. But we can start with getting to know each other, make a national point of contact list, share information about reports, strategies, ISAC’s and other relevant information to build the community.

The Information Sharing working group will organize a panel session to talk about how to ensure effective information sharing in the international maritime sector.

The aim of the panel session is to stress the importance to start to share relevant information. Best practices of the maritime community will be highlighted. Panel members of the public and private sector and a member of an ISAC will discuss various topics with regards to information sharing. The panel session will be an opportunity to identify the possibilities of information sharing on the short term and the long term. Possibilities and do’s and don’ts of using a (secure) platform to share information will be one of the topics.
