Cyber Information Sharing Specialist, U.S. Coast Guard

Tom has worked as a senior level U.S. Civilian Employee for twenty years at the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and currently manages the USCG Cyber Command Marine Transportation Cyber Threat Reduction Program. Tom retired as a Commander in the U.S. Military, and prior to his military and government service, Tom served for 20 years as a police officer/paramedic for the Genesee County Sheriff’s Dept in Flint, MI, retiring in 2010 as a LT.

Tom obtained his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and holds three master’s degrees in Business Administration, Homeland Security, and Strategic Intelligence. Tom is in his second year of his doctorate degree at the World Maritime University in Malmo, Sweden – his thesis is securing the Global Marine Transportation System from Cyber Threats.

Tom is also an Adjunct Professor with National and American Military Universities and provides instruction and course development within the programs of Engineering, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, and Cyber Security
