Senior Analyst, Head of Cyber Capacity Building, Australian Strategic Policy Institute

Bart Hogeveen is a Senior Analyst and Head of Cyber Capacity Building at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute.

In this role, he focuses on issues of international peace and security, development aid, and national security in the cyber and digital domain, with a focus on the Indo-Pacific. He authored the Sydney Recommendations on Practical Futures on Cyber Confidence Building in the ASEAN region (2018). Between 2019 and 2022, he directed a capacity-building effort supporting the implementation of the UN cyber norms in the ASEAN region.

Currently, Bart’s working with governments of emerging economies to strengthen cybersecurity resilience against the risk of state-sponsored economic cyber-espionage and leading a project unpacking the various technical standards-making forums for critical technologies.

In March 2022, he co-authored the report ‘UK, Australia-ASEAN cooperation for safer seas: a case for elevating the cyber-maritime security nexus’ and is currently contributing to a US Naval War College project on Cyber Warfare and Navies.
