Deputy Head of Maritime Security Division, UK Department for Transport

Beth is the Deputy Head of the Maritime Security Division in the UK Department for Transport. Beth’s division is the UK Government lead for security policy governing British shipping and port security, and for monitoring and threat advice to the commercial maritime sector and international shipping, as well as strategic maritime security leadership across Government; including the recent publication of the UK’s new National Strategy for Maritime Security and sponsorship of the UK Joint Maritime Security Centre.

Since joining the Civil Service in 2013, Beth has developed a specialism in security, borders and crisis management, working across a number of UK government Departments, including the Home Office, Transport, and Cabinet Office. Beth’s previous roles include the UK’s Aviation Security representative to the European Union and Head of Contain in the UK COVID-19 Taskforce.
